The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred heart of Jesus. This devotion started when Jesus appeared to a French nun, Saint Sister Margaret Mary Aloqoque, in 1673.
Jesus asked that the image of His heart be honored. He asked that the faithful make amends for wrongdoings, receive Holy Communion and pray a Holy Hour. He gave 12 promises to those who venerate His Sacred Heart.It wasn't until 1856 when Pope Pius IX added the Solemnity to the Church calendar.
